Our mission

To serve as advocates and ambassadors of Central Unified School District by encouraging community investment and involvement in the core pillars.

In 2004, a dedicated group of parents, staff, and community members united around a single purpose: to enrich the educational experience of every Central Unified student. With this vision in mind, they founded the Foundation for Central Schools and immediately set to work, empowering teachers with grants that brought innovation into the classroom.

Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its reach, always guided by its commitment to student success. They’ve opened doors to higher education through scholarships, ensuring that students can pursue their dreams. They’ve provided warm jackets and sweaters so that no child shivers through a lesson. They’ve stocked clothing closets and distributed food, recognizing that a student who feels secure is a student who can thrive. They’ve even funded essential classroom resources, from textbooks to technology, because access to quality education should never be a privilege—it’s a right.

Beyond the basics, the Foundation has championed programs that ignite curiosity and creativity. They’ve supported district initiatives like History Day and the Young Authors’ Faire, giving students the platform to explore and excel. And they’ve turned once-in-a-lifetime opportunities into reality, like seeing Central Unified students take the stage at Carnegie Hall.

Through it all, the Foundation has raised over $2.2 million to support the mission. Today, they remain steadfast in their work, advocating for community investment and partnerships that create high-quality educational experiences for every student. Because when we invest in our students, we invest in the future, and there’s no limit to what they can achieve.
