Students from Glacier Point Middle School, Harvest Elementary, and Liddell Elementary put their STEM skills to the test in the First LEGO League Challenge. Working together, they tackled problem-solving challenges and built models using LEGO DUPLO bricks, all while gaining hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Thanks to funding from the Academics Pillar Grant, materials and registration fees for local and state competitions were covered, ensuring that students could innovate, collaborate, and compete on a larger stage.

Students from Central Unified and neighboring districts came together last week through the Unified Sports and United PE programs. Hosted at Rio Vista Middle School, the event allowed students to train and play soccer using newly purchased equipment funded by the Athletics Pillar Grant.

Through these programs, students of all abilities build teamwork, confidence, and a shared love for sports, reinforcing the power of inclusion in athletics.

After ten nail-biting rounds, Jaiyeoluwa Jaji from Glacier Point claimed first place, with Kaylynne Lenard from Rio Vista securing second. Gurpartap Grewal, also from Glacier Point, earned third place and will serve as the alternate.

Congratulations to all the participants for their incredible performances! Thanks to funding from the Academics Pillar Grant, awards and competition registrations are fully covered, ensuring our top spellers can represent Central Unified at the county level.
